Family friends of a Chaparral teen found lifeless at Quemado Lake in New Mexico are helping collect funds for his funeral through an online fundraiser.

Seth Stephenson, 16, and Noah Hooper, 15, were both helping out at Apache Creek Deaf and Youth camp when they went missing at the lake area the last day of June and were found in the water without life days later.

"We just don't want finances to be one more thing on their plate," said Deb Roennebeck from the Vista Hills Homeschool Ministry, who helped organize the fundraiser.

Roennebeck said they set a goal of $10,000 to help with funeral expenses and any other costs that might be arise.

Roennebeck knows the Stephenson family through their homeschooling efforts and decided to help in any way possible.

"There's so much grief and so many details that they are going to have to deal with," she said.

Roennebeck said they are also exploring the possibility of helping the Hooper family as well.
