False Alarm at UTEP

Tuesday, November 30, 2010 - 9:49pm
Some UTEP students were worried today after they received a text message saying that there was an emergency on campus.
A university spokesman says a "Miner alert message" went out around 2 this afternoon by mistake. It was meant as a test and wasn't supposed to go out to students.
The text message said a possible threat had been identified on campus and urged people to take shelter.
We're told a second message was sent out right after, saying the first message was a false alarm.
