El Paso, Texas (KTSM) — An event aims to help speed up disability claims for military veterans.
The "Beating the VA Backlog: Backlog and Fully Developed Claims" event, is hosted by Congressman Beto O'Rourke and the Texas Veterans Commission, and will give guidance to vets, family members, and survivors with new or pending disability claims from the U.S. Dept. Of Veterans Affairs.
Many veterans wait an average of 449 days to get a response to benefits claims, said O'Rourke.
"That is why my office has partnered with the Texas Veterans Commission to host an event that will help Veterans with the benefit claims process. We owe a tremendous amount to our Veterans. We must uphold our end of the bargain and help them receive the benefits they have earned," said O'Rourke.
The TVC teams have helped more than 22,000 vets with backlogged claims.
The event will be held Sept. 4 at the El Paso Hotel Suites, 6100 Gateway Blvd. East.
Veterans and families are encouraged to pre-register for the event, here.
