El Paso, TX (KTSM) — El Paso Water Utilities officials explained why their satellite centers ran out of sandbags.
Simply put -- they said they weren't expecting so much demand.
In the past four years, the company explains, they've issued an average of 15,000 sandbags per year. But in September alone, they handed out 34,000 bags.
The company said they keep 50,0000 sandbags to be distributed at five locations. But in light of what happened -- EPWU is working with Fort Bliss and New Mexico's correctional facility to make and distribute more of these bags come next flooding season.
