EPPD takes pedestrian safety to buses

El Paso, TX (KTSM) — The El Paso Police Department’s Safe Communities Program is taking their message of pedestrian safety to Sun Metro buses. In an effort to reduce pedestrian involved collisions and pedestrian fatalities, they've placed new posters on all the public transportation vehicles.
The posters are designed to remind pedestrians to be “safe pedestrians,” and to increase pedestrian safety. It includes safety tips like crossing at crosswalks and dressing to be seen. The messages are in English and Spanish.
The City of El Paso had 23 traffic fatalities that involved pedestrians in 2012. Through April 23 of this year, there have been 2 pedestrian traffic deaths.
