EL PASO - Time has run out for Occupy El Paso.

The permit for protestors camping out in San Jacinto Plaza expired Sunday afternoon.

El Paso Police officers cited protestors who remained in the plaza overnight.

The permit expired at noon Sunday, and the curfew at the plaza is 10 p.m.

A few occupiers refused to leave.  Police arrived at about 3:30 a.m. Monday to begin issuing citations.

Within a few hours, San Jacinto Plaza had been completely cleared out.

So far, there are no reports of violence between protestors and police.

Freedom of Assembly - nough said

I am so relieved that there was no violence between the people that were still at San Jacinto Plaza at 3:30 a.m. and the Police, and that the protesters have apparently cleared out. I hope that if it is their intent to continue protesting that they find a viable, safe and courteous way to do so. I often hear individuals talk about their rights but I often see those same individuals not care about the rights of others who may disagree with them.
