An El Paso Police Department hero passed away New Year's Day. 

Retired K-9, Toby lived to be 14 years old, EPPD said, of which six were dedicated to El Paso Police Department’s Narcotics Task Forces  from 2000 to 2006.

During Toby’s career he served the El Paso Police Department and the Citizens of El Paso by taking 25,421 pounds of marijuana, 17.2 pounds of cocaine, 67 pounds of steroids, and $1,132,000.00 of illegally gained monies off El Paso streets, according to his record. 

Toby and his Police Officer partner shared honors of “Distinguished Unit Award,” and “Meritorious Service Award.” Toby was also known at numerous El Paso Schools as a special guest during Red Ribbon Week and D.A.R.E., presentations.

Toby would have turned 15 years old in February 2013.
