A car burglar is surprised by the owner of the car he was burglarizing and then tries telling the owner that it was his car.

It happened just before 3:30 Monday morning when officers from the Pebble Hills Regional Command Center responded to a call of a Burglary of Vehicle in progress at the parking lot of the Three Legged Monkey.
Once at the scene, officers learned that the 34-year old owner of a 2007 Ford Focus arrived to his vehicle and noticed someone inside his car. The victim confronted 29-year old Jerry Rodriguez, who was inside his vehicle. During this time Rodriguez attempted to tell the victim that it was his (Rodriguez') car.

Officers found that Rodriguez had managed to open the car and began taking money that had been left inside of the vehicle. Rodriguez was placed under arrest for Burglary of Vehicle and an outstanding traffic warrant. The Officers were able to recover the money taken from the victim. Rodriguez was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under a total bond of $1,037.53.
