EPISD Teacher On Leave Over September 11 Assignment
EL PASO — An El Paso ISD elementary school teacher is on paid leave after a parent complained about a class assignment involving the September 11 attacks.
It happened on Tuesday inside a fourth grade classroom at Hughey Elementary School.
A family friend of one student said students were specifically asked to draw the boom clouds, the planes hitting the towers, and people jumping out of windows.
She also claimed the teacher told the students that Afghans hate Americans.
EPISD released a statement on Saturday. It said, "District and campus administrators immediately launched an investigation into the specific assignment that led to the drawings, however, the investigation is not yet complete."
