EL PASO - The El Paso Independent School District is asking its students to bring bottled water with them to school tomorrow.

Classes should be reopening for EPISD, but students will not be able to drink out of the water fountains because of the shortage and boil alert.

Newschannel 9 will continue to follow this story and post more details as they become available.

If you can't find any water bottles in the stores, then boil your own water, let it cool down, put in fridge and pour in a reusable water bottle. Not to difficult. As for the schools to supply all those water bottles, that is not going to happen as it shouldn't. Parents should be able to supply one or two bottles for their children.

Please stop complaininig about everything. Most people do not pay a penny for their children's lunch. I do not think that carrying a bottle of water is going to harm any student. This is a crisis and as parents we need to teach our children to step up to challenges not to expect our government to solve every one of our little problems. That is the biggest problem in our society, we always ask for help instead of asking if we can be of any help to others. Look in the stores for the 1L bottles.

students are already carrying their heavy backpacks with books! now they're expected to carry their own water? why is the city of el paso never prepared for anything? aren't there any leaders with any common sense in the city government?

REALLY? How much water are you going to be sending? One bottle is not that heavy. If your kid is unable to carry a water bottle in a backpack, maybe they need to spend more time playing outside. Video games don't build muscles, carrying a 12oz water bottle does not either.

I think the schools should supply the bottled water for the kids to me they should stock up on that and offer it at lunch time also some kids like my daughter like to drink water with her meals sometimes instead of milk we pay enough for lunchs and lunchs nowdays are not like they use to be when we were in school and plus the taxes we pay.

Ive been to several supermarkets yesterday and today and all are out of bottled water.
