EL PASO - The El Paso Independent School District could cut up to 1,000 jobs.

The 82nd Legislative Session will determine the district's funding.

State lawmakers are faced with a deficit estimated at $25 billion.

The Chief Financial Officer of EPISD Kenneth Parker said the district has cut $42 million in the last five years.

Parker said the district had prepared for a $25 million cut, but the cut may reach up to $61 million.

This could cause the district to reconsider programs like fine arts.

The district currently employees 9,000 employees.

They are using the lotto money to pay for the schooling, feeding, housing and supportg of all the illegals from Mexico.

Its sad this is happening...i can't wait for the 3yrs to pass by and the FBI's audit they are doing to EPISD catches everything and how screwed up that system is.

How is it EPISD is awarded millions each year from the state and goverment and yet we have the worse looking schools in the city with under paid teachers and under funded schools for materials.

This is why my kids will be in YISD atleast their money goes to the right place.

What the hell happen to the lottery. Wasn't the lottery intention was to help out on education. Where is all of that money going to.
