There is a change in command in the El Paso Independent School District for now. Interim Superintendent Dr. Terri Jordan who was once Former Superintendent Lorenzo Garcia's right-hand-person stepped down.

On Tuesday, the El Paso ISD Board of Trustees appointed Ken George as her replacement. He will fill the position to give trustees time to find another interim superintendent. George will be the interim superintendent for at about two weeks.

George retired from EPISD in 1997 after more than 30 years of service. He was associate superintendent when he retired. George has served as interim superintendent for EPISD and Clint ISD.

George said he's ready to take on the job and rid the district's bad reputation.

"If you have one problem, it makes everybody else look bad so the thing we want to do away with those problems and then take care of the issues and make sure that every child is getting a good education. I believe they've always done this and I think we will continue to do this," said George.

Doctor Jordan has been the interim superintendent since August last year after the arrest of Garcia for public corruption.

Jordan stepped down citing family responsibilities. She will return to her work as chief of staff on Wednesday.

Board president Isela Castañon-Williams said the board of trustees or TEA monitor Dr. Judy Castleberry had no influence on Jordan's decision to step down.

The Board of Trustees has begun the process of hiring a superintendent search firm and expects to have a new superintendent in place by March 2013.

Why doesn't the internet require the same journalistic and grammatical excellence seen in the printed media? The first paragraph of this article is a confusing run-on sentence. The paragraph took me three times to read before I was able to understand what the author was saying. Wow! Doesn't anybody proff-read these articles? Where is the editor?
