EL PASO (KTSM) — There were tense moments for one Central El Paso family after flames erupted in front of their home.
The fire started at the home on Douglas and San Marcial just before 2 a.m. Wednesday. The family of three made it out of the house safely. When firefighters arrived, high flames were shooting out of the front of the home.
They don't know what caused the fire but they have an idea.
"It appears it could have been intentional, but we have to confirm that with the investigator and the occupants as well as the neighbors... see if they saw anything suspicious," said Battalion Chief Emir Ortiz with the El Paso Fire Department.
"I just heard a loud sound outside and it woke me up and I went to the kitchen and through the window of the kitchen, I saw the next door house be catching on fire," said neighbor Christopher Herrera.
Firefighters immediately put the fire out and stopped it from spreading to the rest of the home.
No one was hurt.
