EPFD: Church Fire Intentionally Set
EL PASO — Fire investigators have determined that a church fire in Northeast El Paso on Tuesday night was intentionally set.
The fire broke out shortly after 9:00p.m. on Fillmore Ave.
According to Battalion Chief Ed Snyder, the fire started outside the basement doors of the church.
"The first companies on the scene witnessed fire emanating from one of the exterior doors. They initiated a fire attack, and within 10 to15 minutes, the fire was extinguished," said Snyder.
No one was in the building at the time of the fire. There were no injuries reported.
There was minor smoke damage inside the building, along with about 3 feet of standing water in the basement.
Damages are estimated at about $2,000 dollars.
