The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, through the Texas Department of Transportation, awarded the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office a comprehensive grant that will supplement the number of deputies patrolling the streets. The grant will also give deputies the opportunity to target DWI drivers, seat belt and child safety seat violations, and speed violations. The grant also allows deputies to increase enforcement of intersection traffic control laws in high traffic areas.

The EPCSO was awarded approximately $83,255 with a match in services of approximately $33,805 for a total project cost of approximately $117,061. The grant becomes effective in October 2014 and ends in November of 2015.
