EPCSO: Man arrested for robbing Fabens convenience store

El Paso Sheriff's Deputies have arrested 36-year-old Salvador Valverde for allegedly robbing a convenience store in the 700 block of North Fabens Rd. in Fabens, TX on Sunday morning.

Sheriff's Deputies responded to reports of an aggravated robbery in progress at the Fabens convenience store at approximately 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning. Clerks say that a man walked into the store and pretended to purchase an item, but once he was at the register, he threatened the cashier with a knife and demanded money from the register. The cashier complied with the robber, and he left the store.

When Deputies arrived on scene, they immediately recognized the suspect from security camera footage. Deputies located the suspect in the 100 block of NW Davis St. in Fabens, where he was hiding inside a home.

The Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division responded to the scene as well as the Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit. The subject was positively identified by the cashier and placed under arrest.

The suspect was identified as 36-year-old Salvador Valverde. He was subsequently booked into the El Paso County Jail Annex and is being held on a $25,000 bond.
