EPSO - Don't drive through any flooded areas

Officials with the El Paso County Sheriff's office say the steady rain and runoff have made all roads south of Socorro Road in the Lower Valley impassable.

EPSO officials say that two families have asked to be transported shelters in the area, there have not been any reported injuries as a result of the widespread flooding.

Chris Acosta, Public Affairs Director for the sheriff's office adds,  "We are asking drivers to take alternative routes...please avoid water crossings, under passes and other areas that are prompt to flooding such as arroyos."

Additionally, the Lower Valley Water District is providing 2 vacuum trucks to clear the crosswalks for the children when they are released from school.

Residents are asked to call 915-872-3989 if they need assistance with shelter, and any other safety tips.
