EL PASO — El Paso attorney Frank Macias emerged from the courtroom this afternoon saying he will appeal the murder conviction of Brian Engleton. Engleton, convicted last week for stabbing his wife Deidre as many as 30 times, now faces life in prison for the crime. The jury came back with the sentence today, ending the penalty phase of the trial
Earlier today, Engleton spoke up in court, as he has several times, this time asking judge Maria Salas-Mendoza for a mistrial. She informed him that the trial was over

This case looks to be a prime example of the defendent being his own worst enemy. From what I saw on the news and read in the newspaper, Mr. Engleton blamed everybody but himslef for the murder of his wife. She was his wife and not his property but Engleton never learned that so now he will have to spend the rest of his life in prison. At least he still has a life, he took away the life of his hard working wife Deidre with more than 30 stabs with a knife.
