An American Airlines flight from El Paso to Dallas had engine failure today.

It happened soon after takeoff.

The jet turned around and made a safe emergency landing back here at El Paso International Airport.

Flight 2238 took off from El Paso International at about 2 p.m.

A spokesperson for American says the plane's left engine developed problems and forced the pilot to make a U-turn.

125 passengers were onboard, they got seats on another jet to Dallas.
