El Pasoans and voters across Texas will head to the polls Tuesday to cast their votes for the primary election.

There are two Republican candidates vying for the seat, including Corey Roen and Barbara Carrasco.

The democratic primary race includes Ben Mendoza, Beto O'Rourke, Paul Johnson Jr., Jerome Tilghman and the incumbent Congressman Silvestre Reyes.

Although there are five candidates running for the democratic primary, the race has focused closely on O'Rourke and Reyes.

Both of their campaign launched new ad campaigns attacking each other.

Reyes' ad brought up O'Rourke's criminal history, including a 1997 DWI arrest.

O'Rourke's campaign fired back by questioning Reyes' motivations for pushing the virtual border fence, as well as attacking Reyes for accepting campaign contributions from the fence's contractor, which also hired all three of Reyes' children.

Polling locations will be open from 7a.m. to 7p.m. Tuesday.
