EL PASO- Small business owners got together to celebrate in downtown El Paso this afternoon National Small Business Saturday.
With huge retail sales across the Borderland this holiday weekend, shoppers are finding bargains and showing their support for small businesses at the same time.
Saturday afternoon marked the second annual Small Business Saturday in downtown El Paso. Over 20 small businesses participated in the event, promoting hand-made gifts by local artists, all costing under 20 dollars.
Area businesses say in tough economic times, they are thankful for the communities support.
"We are unique and we have unique items you don't see in those big businesses. We put a lot of love in our business too,” said small business owner Heidi Bean.
Children were also able to participate in free arts and crafts projects. If you missed Saturday’s event, you can still show your support of local small businesses. The Downtown Art Market takes place every Saturday at Union Plaza.
