EL PASO -  Many El Pasoans were not shocked when Texas Governor Rick Perry announced he was dropping out of the Presidential Race.

Governor Perry's bid for presidency started in August with strong polling numbers.  Those numbers didn't last long as voters turned away after Governor Perry mispoke on several topics including confusing bombs in Juarez with bombs in El Paso.

His drop out comes just two days before the South Carolina primary.  Governor Perry has thrown his support behind Newt Gingrich, who is expected to get a boost from the endorsement.

El Pasoans said some of his mistakes during the debates might have cost him support.

"It was early on that he made a couple of statements that were probably not liked by the public, and he never really recovered from that," said El Pasoan, Bob Poley. " He's a good man and he's done a lot for Texas".

Governor Perry has used the office of Governor of the State of Texas to do good for himself and his campiagn contributers. In my opinion he has not done good for El Paso & the children of Texas and their families. The lotto monies were supposed to go to education, the red light monies were supposed to go to education but they HAVE NOT! We all know what Gov. Perry has not done for education in Texas, don't we? Now the country & the world know what our governor is not made up of or for.
