Election Day in El Paso is Saturday and one of the big races is to pick the next mayor of our city.

"I find that voting is incredibly important for the reason that every vote counts," said Robert Hendricks.

Many El Pasoans have one thing on their minds -- growth.

"I'm looking for the city of El Paso to expand and change and grow into the big city I know it can be," said Hendricks.

"There's a lot of things that the city needs to grow," said Zeke Ruvalcaba.

The biggest race on the ballot is for El Paso Mayor. Candidates include Jorge Artalejo, Robert Cormell, Gus Haddad, Oscar Leeser, Hector Lopez, Dino Martinez, Steve Ortega and Jaime Perez.

People feel the candidates for mayor can move the city forward, but there will be some challenges, especially surrounding a controversial Triple-A ballpark coming to downtown El Paso.

"I feel that this new mayor is going to have some letters on his desk about this ballpark even after its been built," said Hendricks. "They're looking to expand at an increasingly fast pace and I think the new mayor is going to have a hard time adapting to that fast pace."

Many are just hoping for the same thing.

"I hope we get a mayor that going to walk the walk as much as he's talking the talk, because that's what El Paso needs. We need to be a better city," said Ruvalcaba.
Other races include city council seats for district 2, 4 and 7 and some board of trustee seats for El Paso, Socorro and Ysleta school districts.

Polls will open at 7 a.m. Saturday and close at 7 p.m.

I watched on cable channel 16 last nite and Allala was great. She is so correct, El Paso cannot let bad government take over. Hopefully, all will be replaced and the people of El Paso will finally open their eyes and get these dictators out.
