Delmetha Bishop was almost speechless when she found out President Obama will be at Fort Bliss tomorrow. She had no idea until we told her.
"That is wonderful! I'm just tickled he wants to come out here,” she said.
Bishop also didn't seem to mind the fact that she won't get the chance to see him in person.
"I've never met a President anyway so it wouldn't be the first one I didn't meet,” she said, laughing.
Bishop and her husband just moved to El Paso in February. Tomorrow she's hoping President Obama will talk about bringing troops back from Afghanistan. Her husband already spent one year overseas and he's scheduled for another.
"A lot of the other wives I've met want the same thing. A year is a long time, and you're worried all the time. You don't hear from them every day and you're hoping everything is okay," she said.
Others hope President Obama will talk about another war - one much closer to home.
"I think he should address the border violence. We need some executive order in place to put some more guards on our border," said El Pasoan Keith Hollis.
While many would like President Obama to address the violence in Juarez, a spokesperson for Fort Bliss said don't expect any formal speeches, he's there primarily to meet with soldiers one on one.
