El Paso woman arrested, accused of lying about stolen TV
EL PASO (KTSM) — El Paso Police have charged a Lower Valley woman with falsely reporting a burglary late last month.
Investigators said 44-year-old Cynthia Marquez had rented a television from Casa TV Rentals and then sold the TV to someone.
When Casa representatives arrived at her apartment to retrieve the television, police said Marquez told them her home had been burglarized and that the TV and a stereo had been stolen.
Investigators told NewsChannel 9 they learned Marquez had pawned the stereo in question several days earlier. They said when questioned, Marquez eventually admitted that she lied about the burglary and filed a false police report.
Marquez was booked into the El Paso County Jail.
