El Pasoans nearly emptied out all the sandbags at the El Paso Water Utilities Center Thursday night, and Friday.  The center is restocking and getting the bags ready for tonight.

"We have really depleted our supply at these satellite centers, and it’s really hard for us to fill the supply in these centers because we need to make them and then transport them," said Vice President of Communication and Marketing for El Paso Water Utilities.

Montoya said because of the depletion of sand bags that occurred last night, the northeast location will be the main place residents are asked to go for the next couple of weeks in order to make sure they get what they need.

"In an effort to make sure people only make one trip, and ensure they can get the sandbags that they need, we are encouraging everyone to go to the 4801 Fred Wilson facility for now," said Montoya.

One El Pasoan said even pumping out the water wasn't enough and hopes these sand bags help out with the future coming rain.

"The water went in through the back of my rooms and I had to use a vacuum to get the water out. It’s terrible that’s why I am here to get some bags of sand," Ricardo Zamora, resident in Northeast El Paso.

Horizon City was one of the areas in the Borderland impacted the most, and Horizon City's town hall is offering free sandbags for anyone wanting to take precaution tonight.

"All you need to do is bring your shovel and open them up. You can get 5 bags per vehicle per load," said Horizon Chief Police Michael McConnell.

Montoya said these bags are offered year round and encourages El Pasoans to pick up sandbags before the monsoon season starts. She said not only will you be protecting your home, but you’ll be protecting yourself.
