EL PASO, TX — Authorities are looking for a man who is wanted for failing to register as a sex offender. El Paso sheriff's deputies say Alexandre Banta cut off his court-ordered monitor and escaped from a halfway house in Horizon City. He is on parole for aggravated sexual assault involving a 13-year-old girl.

Banta is originally from Brazil, but deputies say he has family here in El Paso as well as in Lubbock, Texas. If you see him, call El Paso Crime Stoppers at 915-566-8477.
