It's official. The El Paso Independent School District school board is being replaced by a board of managers. Current board president Isela Castañon-Williams has confirmed the Texas Education Agency has received a letter from the U.S. Department of Justice, approving the appointment of a board of managers.

The TEA replaced the current board with a board of managers last year, but needed clearance from the DOJ to make it legal.

The new board will include Dee Margo, a former state representative, Blanca Enriquez, who runs Region 19's Head Start Program, and Ed Archuleta, the retiring CEO of El Paso Water Utilities.

The other two members are Carmen Arrieta-Candelaria, city of El Paso CFO, and Judy Castleberry, the TEA monitor currently assigned to the district. We do not know yet when the new board will hold its first meeting.

Outgoing Board President Isela Castañon-Williams told us, "I am disappointed the Department of Justice has ruled against the vote of the people of El Paso."

So the former EPISD School Board President is disappointed in President Obama because the Justice Department did not save her & the rest of the NO GOOD EPISD Board from being replaced. Castañon-Williams has no shame. If she & the rest of her inept cronies on the now former EPISD Board had any shred of integrityt, then they would of steped down as soon as the new board of managers had been named. On behalf of all EPISD students, I say Good Ridence to Castañon-Williams & her cronies.
