The American Red Cross El Paso will lend support to those affected by the wildfires still raging in Arizona by sending it's Emergency Response Vehicle (ERV) and a team of volunteers on Friday morning. The crew will meet at the Red Cross El Paso office at 3620 Admiral Street at 10:00a.m. and will depart soon afterwards. Media are invited to cover this deployment, and stay in touch with our volunteers during their assignment.

Red Cross workers are helping people affected by the blaze about 80 miles northwest of Phoenix, providing food, water, shelter and mental health services for those affected. The fire has forced hundreds of people to leave their homes and has forced the closure of a major roadway in the area.

"Our hearts go out to everyone affected by the tragic events in Yarnell, Arizona," said Mark Matthys, executive director for American Red Cross El Paso. "We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the 19 brave firefighters who lost their lives protecting their community."

The Red Cross is responding to several on-going regional and national disasters. To support these efforts please make a donation to Red Cross Disaster Relief at www.redcross.org or by calling 1-800-RED CROSS.
