El Paso, TX (KTSM) — Mayor Oscar Leeser will be delivering his state of the city address Wednesday, 11:30 am at the Convention Center. In his first public speech since being elected in May, Mayor Leeser is expected to talk about economic progress.
Leeser is the mayor of the sixth largest city in Texas. The El Paso businessman moved the United States as a boy from Chihuahua, Mexico. Recently, he has touted El Paso’s strides as a community on Bloomberg TV, speaking on driving big business to the area, the 2012 multi-million dollar Quality of Life Bonds which aims to build new facilities throughout the city, and the economic partnerships with the Sun City’s fraternal twin sister city, Juarez, Mexico.
He is the 53rd mayor of the Sun City and is the President of Hyundai El Paso. The Mayor has been in office for a year. Under his leadership, the city has stated it will not pay for any more expenses above $64-million for the Southwest University Park, the Triple-A Baseball Stadium which has been a polarizing topic since its inception. He also led the city's efforts to end their lease with the Diablos, getting control back over Cohen Stadium.
