Competency Hearing Friday Morning

An El Paso man will find out if he will stand trial Friday morning in the double homicide of a mother and daughter. 21-year old Christian Alberto Martinez’s competency hearing will take place at 9 AM.
Martinez is accused of stabbing a mother and daughter to death back in January of last year. 20-year old Jovana Flores and 58-year old Amalia Flores, in their East El Paso home.

A police affidavit states the 21-year old followed Jovana home, after he got angry when she jogged by him. It goes on to say he forced his way inside, and stabbed both women. He then went into another room.

Police found him in that room, with serious cuts on his left wrist, and was taken to a local hospital. Martinez is facing capital murder charges if he is found competent enough to stand trial. He pleaded not guilty to the charges in August.
