EL PASO - More people in the city of El Paso will soon be surfing the web.

The city received $8.4 million to expand access broadband technology in the area. That means you will have better access to public computers, and some people will have the chance to attend training that will help develop a wide range of their professional skills.

Here is a list from the city that lays out plans for the money:

· EPPL will operate a new bookmobile to serve the county and outlying areas equipped with 10 laptop computers with mobile wireless Internet service as well as traditional library services.
· 24 new Public Computer Centers (188 computers) located at Recreation and Senior centers
· 35 new computers located at 3 Boys and Girls clubs
· La Fe will upgrade equipment at 5 existing learning centers
· Access to PCCs in five EPCC locations
· 12 new PCCs at Housing Authority locations
· Support for children with disabilities and their families at the Paso del Norte Children's Development Center PCC
· Mobile PCCs operated by People Skills, Inc. which will bring laptop computers with wireless Internet to rural areas of El Paso County
· VOLAR will upgrade their computer center with an additional 15 workstations as well as assistive technology to serve people with disabilities
· Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande will upgrade equipment and provide referral services at 15 locations in the City and County of El Paso as well as 3 additional locations serving the counties of Brewster, Hudspeth, Jeff Davis, Culberson and Presidio
· Ysleta del Sur Pueblo will acquire 10 new computers with Internet access

In addition
· 91 Full time jobs will be created directly from the grant
· 58 full time jobs will be created indirectly from the grant
· 33 full time jobs will be induced from the grant
