Whether it is a weather related disaster or a mass shooting incident, the city of El Paso will be better equipped to prepare and respond as a community because of workshops taking place later this month.

The event is titled “Preparing your Community for Emergencies” and will feature local experts discussing what it takes to prepare for a disaster and ensure the safety and security of all El Pasoans.

The goal of these workshops is threefold:

1) To increase the capacity of two key community groups: community health workers and librarians, to educate and inform the community on disaster preparedness and response;

2) to facilitate their access to state-of-the-art health and disaster preparedness resources;

3) to increase communication and networking with local first responders.

The Mission of the Department of Public Health is to provide research and evaluation, prevention, intervention, and mobilization services to the people of El Paso so they can be healthy, productive, safe and secure.
