El Paso Flags Fly Half-Staff to Honor Shooting Victims, Fallen Officer
Many flags in the borderland flew at half-staff over the weekend and into the work week. It was a showing of sympathy for the Connecticut victims.
President Obama ordered all government building to fly flags at half-staff through Tuesday.
In an another showing of solidarity, El Paso Fire Departments flew the Texas State flag at half-staff in honor of 27 year-old Police Officer Angel Gomez. He was killed in an accident on I-10 Sunday.
Captain Carlos Franco says, "It is a sign of respect we do fly the flag at half-staff until a week after his funeral. it is a tragic event that he lost his life in the line of duty on the freeway while doing his job so it is a matter of respect throughout the department."
