Firefighters across the Sun City paid their respects to the four firefighters who were killed in Houston. Flags were flown at half staff on Wednesday. At noon, firefighters paused for a moment at fire houses, not just in El Paso, but throughout the nation.

"Whenever incidents like this happen around the state or around the country, we take it to heart here at home. It's as if it happened here at home to one of us. And so we make sure that everybody listens to what happened, what were the circumstances involved. What can we do to look out for these types of things? In this line of service it's part of the vocation that we took on. It's part of our commitment, this is what we swore to do it's to protect the citizens of this community," Assistant Fire Chief Manny Chavira of the El Paso Fire Department told us.

El Paso firefighters also told us it's their duty to honor and remember them.
