El Paso County's State of the County Address 2013
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — El Paso County’s state of the county address took place today at the Camino Real Hotel. City, county, and state officials met at the hotel to hear the county judge speak on the current state of affairs for El Paso.
Judge Veronica Escobar tells us the county has a good, solid financial foundation after years of making severe cuts. Escobar also explained some of the reorganization plans the court will be considering in July and she also spoke about another challenge that will be addressed next month.
"As we're fixing our financial situation, the next big issue we have to tackle is our governance. Right now the county is governing; the court is governing by committee. So we have delegated our authority because of the critical nature of the crisis and the rebuilding, we formed committees. But as a result we created a new bureaucracy and delegated our authority and I'm going to ask the court to do away with that,” Judge Veronica Escobar said.
The state of the county address takes place every year.
