El Paso, TX (KTSM) — El Paso County Commissioners will meet Monday, August 26 to discuss the costs and options for a new Downtown jail facility.
Commissioners will decide whether they should continue with needed modifications to the current El Paso County Detention Facility.
County Judge Veronica Escobar said the current jail facility is old and needs major updates to its plumbing system, heating and air conditioning and access for the disabled.
The county auditor said if a new facility is built, the county could save $9 million.
