Congressman Silvestre Reyes made a stop in El Paso to talk about health care, but he also spoke to NewsChannel 9 about security concerns following the deadly shootings in Tucson.

Our camera crew noticed the Congressman was escorted by two El Paso County Sheriff's Deputies and several plain clothes security guards.

Reyes says security has been beefed up since a mass shooting in Tucson that has left a congresswoman in critical condition.

"Want to make sure we're cautious, then we can tone it back down," Reyes said."It's an unfortunate reflection of what happened in Tucson."

The Sergeant of Arms of the House of Representatives made the nationwide decision to step up security for government officials.

With tea-party people saying that it is all right to have violence against the govenment (13%) more than any party, I don't blame congressman Reyes for taking more precautions. The crazies in the tea-party might go after him, even tea party founder Trent Humphries had a guy taken away by police at a tea party meeting for threatening him. What goes around comes around I guess.
