New El Paso city manager to start Monday

El Paso's newest City Manager is getting ready for his first day on the job. Tommy Gonzalez will officially begin his new position Monday. Gonzalez is a former City Manager out of Irving, Texas and a retired Lieutenant Colonel in the Army. The new City Manager will be making more than $239,000 and receive $2,500 housing allowance a month for the first 6 months.

Gonzalez is replacing Joyce Wilson who was El Paso's first ever City Manager for the last decade. Wilson has since taken a job as Interim CEO of Workforce Solutions Upper Rio Grande, a non-profit organization which helps job seekers.

Gonzalez signed a five year contract.
