El Paso- The El Paso City Council will cast votes this morning on Mayor Cook's proposal to ban cat and dog sales in the city.

The proposal would ban pet stores from selling cats and dogs in the city, as well as prohibit unregistered breeders from doing the same.

Other elements include requiring animal shelters to neuter or spay cats and dogs older than four months, and could triple registration fees for your animals.

It would also require owners whose pets are found by city shelters to pay for the costs in order to reclaim their animals.

We'll bring the results of the vote as soon as it's final.
