El Paso Children's Hospital awarded $2,500 grant
El Paso, TX (KTSM) — El Paso Children’s Hospital Foundation was awarded a $2,500 grant from United Way of El Paso to support the Therapeutic Arts Program for pediatric oncology patients at El Paso Children’s Hospital.
The funding will be used to provide creative arts intervention to help kids reduce stress and increase positive coping skills.
According to the National Cancer Institute, childhood cancer is the second leading cause of death after accidents.
Health care providers are turning to creative arts programs to help children and their families to combat the long-term psychological impact of this disease.
An important component to this program is giving young patients the opportunity to showcase and exhibit their artwork in public spaces throughout the El Paso community.
