Parents now have a way of staying in contact with babies who have to stay in the neonatal intensive care unit. The El Paso Children's Hospital unveiled the Nicview webcam system Wednesday.
The system allows new mothers to watch their babies via webcam. Parents can even share the tender moments with family members outside of the borderland. All a family member or friend has to do is open up the website on their computer or smart phone. The new system has helped ease new parents worries.
"A lot more relaxed because I could see that she was still OK and that there wasn't anything going on at that time because she was intubated when she was first born so it was really; it was a hard experience not being able to be with her 24/7. So having the cameras were, I could look at her when I needed to was really a good experience," said new mom Stephanie McKenzie
The program was funded through the UMC Foundations and donations made through the Milagro Gala.
