El Paso Celebrates History and Culture

Saturday, December 8, 2012 - 11:16pm

Dancers moved to the beating of drums at the grand finale of an historic celebration in El Paso. It was a day long event for those who gathered to celebrate the opening of El Paso's Fourth Wall of Giants and the 353rd anniversary of the foundation of Ciudad Juarez. Parents found it was a fun way to teach their kids an important part of our local history.

Mayor Cook joined other El Pasoans in a procession from the El Paso Museum of History to the "Aquacero" sculpture at the base of the Santa Fe Bridge, where there was an exchange of light between Juarez and El Paso.

The lit processional moved back from the bridge to the museum, where the Fourth Wall of Giants honoring the Missions and their people went up.
