A power outage is believed to be the cause of a city-wide cable outage this afternoon. As we reported a fire at Time Warner in East El Paso caused an interruption in cable, internet and digital phone service across El Paso.

A spokesperson for Time Warner says there was a power surge after a power outage that sparked the fire. No one was hurt.

We're told about 98% of service has been restored and Time Warner is continuing to work to get service to about 500 customers.
