A North East El Paso Resident is temporarily displaced after an early morning fire burns his home on White Sands Drive.

El Paso Fire Department officials say the call came in around 4 a.m. when the man awoke to his smoke detector sounding off. He and his dog safely escaped through a second-story window, fire officials said.  Fire investigators determined the fire started in the living room on the first floor. The cause of the fire was undetermined and is still under investigation.

No one was injured and he says 25 firefighters responded to the call. It only took a matter of minutes for them to completely extinguish the fire. The man did not want to speak with us on camera, but he did say he’s 'just going to go to work and he’ll figure it out from there.'

The damages are estimated to costs around $40,000. The resident is temporarily displaced.
