LAS CRUCES — At least three sobriety checkpoints and four saturation patrols will be conducted in Las Cruces between May 4 and 28.
LCPD sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols are intended to reduce and eliminate the number of drunk drivers. Additional enforcement activities may include underage and party patrols.
Designated drivers are encouraged to plan ahead of time and use a designated driver for their transportation needs.
Police also encourage residents to report disorderly gatherings or loud house parties. City of Las Cruces ordinance 19-94 prohibits loud or unruly gatherings, and violators of that law can be subjected to a fine and up to 30 days in jail.
