Drug overdose deaths on the decline in New Mexico
Albuquerque, NM (KTSM) — Drug overdose deaths are down in New Mexico. That's according to a new report from the state's health department, which is reporting 486 drug overdose deaths last year, a 7 percent decrease from 2011.
New Mexico had the second highest drug overdose death rate in the nation in 2010. While numbers on the decline, overdose rates are 3 to 5 times higher than they were 20 years ago.
