Drone kills six suspected al Qaeda militants in Yemen
(CNN) — Six alleged al Qaeda militants died when a drone struck their convoy in Yemen's southeastern province of Maareb early Thursday, local security officials said.
It brings the total number of suspected U.S. drone strikes in the past two weeks to six.
On Wednesday, two drone strikes in Shabwa province killed a total of six militants, according to several official sources in Yemen not authorized to be named.
The heightened strikes parallel the the closing of U.S. embassies and consulates in the Middle East and Africa over fears of an imminent terror threat this week.
