Witnesses say Graphite and Doniphan needs more safety features installed
El Paso — There was an early morning accident in West El Paso on Thursday, but this one occurred in a neighborhood were some homeowners tells us this is not the first time something like this has happened in their area.
They fear for their safety and they want something done about it. "Yes, it's happened to me before. They crashed into... my living room before that's why we have this stone fence. This intersection is really... there's been many accidents. There was an accident here about a week ago; always accidents here," Andres Durel, a neighbor, says.
Durel lives in the neighborhood and he says he built a stone wall around his home to prevent his home from getting damaged. His home was damaged some time ago and he also told us that there was another accident on Graphite and Doniphan a week ago.
Durel says he woke up to a screeching noise when he saw the suspect running frantically. He says he got a brief chance to speak with the suspect who he says, seemed intoxicated.
That's when he noticed two parked vehicles that were badly damaged from the collision. He woke up his neighbors who own the cars. The suspect's black SUV was also heavily damaged.
When we last spoke with police they told us no one has been arrested and this is still an open investigation.
