El Paso police officers arrested a man for intoxicated assault after his car collided with a motorcyclist early Friday morning, according to a department news release.

Emergency crews rushed the motorcyclist, 35-year-old Rogelio Sepulveda, to Del Sol Medical Center with critical injuries after police say Albert Romero, 28, hit him from behind in his white Ford Focus in the 3500 block of Lee Trevino.

The impact threw Sepulveda from his bike, and eventually Romero's car ran over him, trapping him underneath, according to the statement. Witnesses attempted to pull Sepulveda from underneath the car.

When our cameras arrived at the scene, Sepulveda's motorcycle helmet was near the crash site.

Romero's bond has been set at $80,000.
